Vishnu government will give 5 years arrears to MISA prisoners, 35 cr released

Raipur (Team Newsbuddy): Vishnu government has resumed the pension of MISA prisoners of the state. Vishnudev government had announced to resume the pension a few months ago. Acting on this, the government has released the pension amount. Not only has pension been released by the state government but also the arrears of 5 years are being paid. For this, about Rs 35.5 crore has been released to the districts.

The government of former CM Dr. Raman Singh, pension was given to MISA prisoners. As soon as Congress came to power in 2018, the pension of MISA prisoners was stopped and in 2020 this scheme was stopped by issuing 2 separate notifications. The current BJP government has canceled both the notifications of the Congress government canceling this scheme. As of 2018, 430 democracy fighters / dependents in the state were given honorarium of about 9 crore rupees every year. Persons detained for less than one month were given Rs. 8,000 per month, persons detained for one to five months were given Rs. 15,000 per month and persons detained for five months or more were given Rs. 25,000 per month.

Who are MISA prisoners?

MISA means Maintenance of Internal Security Act. Emergency was imposed in the country during the tenure of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. During this period, non-Congress leaders and those opposing the emergency were forcibly imprisoned. During the BJP government in Chhattisgarh, these MISA prisoners were named Loktantra Senani and pension was started under the Jaiprakash Narayan Samman Nidhi.
