Villagers are ruining crops, staying awake at night

Baramkela (Team Newsbuddy): The migration of elephants leaving the forest towards villages and cities is becoming a new problem. There are many reasons for elephants to move towards villages. Decreasing forests, search for water, lack of food and increasing human activities in forests are the main reasons for this.

Similarly, a group of 26-27 elephants is roaming in Baramkela, Gomarda Sanctuary of Sarangarh. The elephants have destroyed the crops of the villagers. The forest department team that reached the spot has appealed to the villagers to be alert. Surendra Ajay, Forest Range Officer, said that in the month of June last year, a group of elephants came here and set up their camp here. Nowadays it is roaming in Baramkela Gomarda Sanctuary. They are destroying crops here. The villagers are also in panic due to the presence of elephants.

Forest department appeals to villagers to be cautious
The forest department has made an announcement in the village and asked people to be cautious. Villagers have also been stopped from going to the forest for tendu leaves. Officers say that those whose crops have been damaged will be assessed and compensation will be given. Therefore, they should not cause any harm to the elephants.
