NIT Raipur hosts insightful talk on India’s foreign policy under SAMEEP Scheme

Raipur ( Team Newsbuddy): National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur conducted an engaging talk session under the Student And Ministry of External Affairs Engagement Programme (SAMEEP) scheme. The session featured G.V. Srinivas, Additional Secretary (Latin America and Caribbean), Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, who addressed the students and faculty on the key features of India’s foreign policy, particularly in relation to students and academics. Dr. N.V. Ramana Rao, Director, NIT Raipur; Dr. Shrish Verma, Dean (Academics); Dr. Prabhat Diwan, Dean (R&C); faculty members, research scholars and students were also present during the session. The event was coordinated by Dr. Toshan Meenpal, Head of the Department, Electronics & Communication Engineering.

The event commenced with a sapling presentation to all the distinguished guests. Dr. Shrish Verma welcomed everyone and specifically addressed the alumnus of the 1989 batch, G.V. Srinivas. He emphasized the importance of understanding the nation’s foreign policy, its holistic approach towards youth development, and the guiding principles of the foreign ministry. Dr. N.V. Ramana Rao spoke about the institute’s involvement in initiatives like the Gyan, Spark, and Vajra Programs. He extended his gratitude to Srinivas for his presence and valuable insights during the session.

G.V. Srinivas motivated the students to bridge existing gaps and elevate the institute to new heights. He highlighted various MEA schemes relevant to students and the importance of maintaining discipline. He articulated that true success lies not in first-time victories but in the perseverance to calculate risks and try repeatedly. Mr. Srinivas also shared his experiences of managing international events and emphasized India’s significant role in global affairs, including the success of the G20, achievements during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the distribution of Made in India vaccines to different countries. Additionally, he spoke about academic collaborations with foreign universities. This was followed by a lively Q&A session where Srinivas excellently answered all the participants’ queries related to the Ministry of External Affairs and its functioning.

Dr. Toshan Meenpal concluded the session by expressing heartfelt gratitude to all the guests and the organizing committee, marking the event as a memorable and informative experience for all attendees.
