A beautiful town nestled amidst the Shivalik hills of Himachal Pradesh, Chail is a picturesque haven for those seeking serenity and natural beauty away from bustling city life. If you want a break from your stressful city life, a weekend getaway at Chail is a perfect option. This town was established by the Maharaja of Patiala in 1891, the locals have an interesting story which tells us that, during the British rule Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala was banished from Shimla, and out of spite he made a palace at Hill from where the whole Shimla is visible but you can’t see the palace from Shimla. The Chail Palace, an architectural marvel, reflects the opulence and splendor of the era. With its sprawling lawns, ornate furnishings, and intricate woodwork, the palace is a testament to the Maharaja’s vision and affluence. Not only this but the palace has been turned into a hotel by Himachal Pradesh Tourism, giving an unforgettable stay for those who opt for the same. Since the palace is located on the hill, staying there just made me feel serene and close to nature, and a big applause to the staff there who were helpful, and added a spark to the place. The palace grounds also offer panoramic views of the surrounding hills, making it a perfect spot for strolls and photography. Chail is enveloped by lush forests of deodar and pine, making it a paradise for nature enthusiasts. For adventure seekers, Chail offers several trekking and hiking trails, with varying degrees of difficulty. The trek to Kali Ka Tibba, a temple dedicated to the goddess Kali, is particularly popular. Situated atop a hill, the temple offers stunning views of the Choor Chandni and Shivalik ranges, especially during sunrise and sunset. The culinary scene in Chail is a delightful exploration of Himachali cuisine, the food throughout the place offers a taste of the region’s authentic flavors.
