Terrorist Amritpal Singh will take oath as MP today
2 min readNew Delhi (Team Newsbuddy): Radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh Amritpal Singh and Kashmiri leader Sheikh Abdul Rashid alias Engineer Rashid, lodged in Delhi jail, will come out of jail today to take oath as Lok Sabha members. Both have got parole on the direction of the court to take oath. Engineer Rashid is lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in the Jammu and Kashmir terror funding case, while Amritpal is lodged in a jail in Dibrugarh district of Assam under the National Security Act (NSA) for promoting separatist activities in Punjab.
Amritpal Singh (31) and Engineer Rashid (56) recently won the Lok Sabha elections as independent candidates from Khadoor Sahib in Punjab and Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir respectively while in jail. Rashid has been given custody parole of two hours excluding the time taken to travel from Tihar to Parliament for taking oath, and Amritpal Singh has been given custody parole of 4 days from July 5, as he has to be brought from Assam to Delhi and taken back to Dibrugarh jail after the oath taking.
The Punjab Police team will bring Amritpal from Dibrugarh jail to Delhi in its custody. According to the conditions on which the court has granted parole to both of them, they can neither talk to the media on any issue nor make any statement. Their family members also cannot make any kind of statement in the media. Amritpal Singh, a supporter of Khalistan and head of the ‘Waris Punjab De’ organization, has been allowed by the court to meet his family in Delhi, Engineer Rashid’s family can only attend his swearing-in.
