Nehru Yuva Kendra hosts country’s first State Youth assembly

Youth shared their “Man ki Baat” in Vidhan Sabha

Raipur (Team Newsbuddy): Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India organized, Chhattisgarh State Level Youth Assembly for Climate Change in Vidhan Sabha, Chhattisgarh Raipur. “Youth Assembly for Climate Action” was the main theme of the program. Dr. Raman Singh, Speaker, Vidhan Sabha, Chhattisgarh was the chief guest of the program, where in Kedar Kashyap, Minister, Forest & Climate Change, Water Resources was the special guest. William , UNICEF Chief Chhattisgarh & Orissa was also present in the program.

Shrikant Pandey, State Director, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Chhattisgarh apprised that it was country’s first ever youth assembly organized in the Vidhan Sabha. Young MLAs shared their views on the issue of climate change. The primary objective of this program was to promote leadership while augmenting political understanding among the youth.

Devashish Patel from Raipur chaired the Youth Assembly. He addressed his young assembly raising the issues of development and climate change in Chhattisgarh. He appealed to his fellows’ young leaders to maintain the decorum of this prestigious institution.
General Secretary administered the oath ceremony of the Young MLAs, therein, the Question Hour was started in the assembly.

Young MLA from North Bastar, Kanker, Harsh Kumar Dongre, while raising the issue of Hasdeo forest in the House, said that about 98,000 trees have been cut in Hasdeo forest. He demanded that the ruling party must ensure forestation in Hasdeo. In response to this, Minister Mansi Chandravanshi said that there is strength in the organization, if all the people of the state must plant one tree every year.

Whereas young MLA from Raigarh Naveen Kumar Dubey urged the ruling party to pay attention to the issue of pollution. Similarly, young MLA Gulab Singh Verma from Sihawa constituency asked questions related to water pollution.

In addition, young MLAs asked questions related to soil pollution, pollution caused by industries, role of youth in environmental protection. The ministers of the concerned department gave their respective answers. After this, as per the directions of the Speaker of the Assembly, the proceedings of the House were adjourned indefinitely.

UNICEF Chief, William Hanlon said that the initiative of Yuva Goth program under the joint aegis of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan Chhattisgarh and UNICEF is very inspiring as it is infusing energy among the youth. He further said that the role of youth is imperative to deal with the issues related to climate change. In addition, he also emphasized that women and young girls too is important for environment conservation.
Kedar Kashyap, Minister, Forest & Climate Change, Water Resources explained in great detail about the government schemes for mitigating issues related to climate change. He urged everyone to plant trees under Prime Minister, Narendra Modi ji flagship “Ek Ped – Maa Ke Naam”,.

Dr. Raman Singh, Speaker, Vidhan Sabha said that there is only 0.5% potable water available in the world which is continuously polluted by us. He further said that in recent times we have to witness adverse conditions. Thus, it is imperative to encourage youth to promote conservation of groundwater, rivers and other water sources.

  Youth of 16 districts – Raipur, Durg, Dhamtari, Korba, Korea, Champa, Rajnandgaon, Kanker, Dantewada, Bastar, Mahasamund, Bilaspur, Kawardha, Raigarh, Jashpur, Surguja, were felicitated for the excellent work in the field of community development and environment by Dr. Raman Singh.
• District officers of Nehru Yuva Kendra were honored
  Arpit Tiwari, District Youth Officer, Raipur and Nitin Sharma, District Youth Officer, Durg have been honored for their excellent work in the district.
• NYKs “Yuva Goth video released”
  A video was made to encourage the work done by the excellent youth clubs of Nehru Yuva Kendra Organization for community development. This video is not only a source of inspiration for the youth but is also appropriate for their training and capacity building.

Arpit Tiwari, District Youth Officer, Raipur gave vote of thanks to all, Abhishek Singh, Chetna Desai, Shweta Patnaik from UNICEF and officers of Nehru Yuva Kendra were present in the program.
