Even after 77 years of independence, the people of India are looking for such an entrepreneurial policy that can not only keep them active but also make them consider themselves successful in taking the country on the path of development. There are celebrations of achievement and success in the country. If we look back, many shortcomings are visible in it. The resolve to eliminate unemployment is seen in the generous distribution of compassion. The control of inflation starts to look like a sham in which the figures say that not only the wholesale but also the retail index has fallen. The market prices of food items keep touching the sky.

The country has become confident that it can become the third largest economic power in the world in two-three years. While celebrating the centenary of independence in the year 2047, we will be able to call India a global power again. We hope that at that time we will become strong in terms of economic strength in the world. But these are magical things, dazzled by which we consider ourselves no less than any major power in the world. But the lack of entrepreneurship and vision that the common people of India feel is perhaps not seen in any other country. These findings have been published in a study in the Lancet Global Health Journal. The study shows that 50 percent of people in our country shy away from physical activity. If this atmosphere of lack of entrepreneurship and generous distribution of freebies continues, then according to this study, by 2030, the number of people shying away from physical activity in India is likely to reach 60 percent.
The average age of people in the world is increasing. In India, due to malnutrition and lack of adequate livelihood, we are not meeting even the minimum standards of health. This has been said by the World Health Organization. A culture is developing among people that says that whatever can be obtained for free is better. When there are promises from politicians that money will come into bank accounts without doing any labour, then why should people work hard? Why should they look for any enterprise policy? If we talk about statistics, in the year 2000, 22 percent of adults were not physically active. In 2010, this figure increased to 34 percent and now it is 50 percent. This average is 57 percent among women and 42 percent among men who are not active. The question arises that women take care of the house, work so hard, will they be called inactive? As soon as young people become adults, they start working with their fathers and grandfathers in the fields or in shops, will they be called inactive? Yes, the hard work that does not contribute to the country’s gross national income will be called inactive. The World Health Organization says that if an adult does not do 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of vigorous physical activity per week, then he is inactive. Such is half the population of this young country. How strange it feels to think on the basis of these figures.

The figures say that the inactivity of Indian women is at a lower level than Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal. Due to this inactivity, many serious diseases spread in them. Although the government has extended the benefit of Ayushman Yojana to the entire population, the sick experience that private sector hospitals do not admit them or do not take care of them because they say that they do not get payment from the government on time.

Along with the claims of progress in the country, a shortcut culture and pure consumerism have also been promoted. In the shortcut culture, ethics, ideals and morality have become things of the past. A comfortable lifestyle in which there is less work and effort and more rest. These findings of Lancet are a warning to the guides of society and the rulers of power that the policies of liberalism and the shower of compassion do not enhance the self-respect or self-esteem of any country. There is a need to improve this.
