240 new e-buses approved in CG under PM e-Bus Seva Yojana

Raipur (Team Newsbuddy): The first meeting of the State Level Steering Committee under the Pradhan Mantri e-Bus Seva Yojana was held at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain. In the meeting, the committee granted post facto approval of buses for public transport facility in various cities of the state.

In the meeting, the proposal for approval of 100 midi e-buses for Raipur, 50 midi e-buses for Durg Bhilai, 35 midi and 15 mini e-buses for Bilaspur, and 20 midi and 20 mini e-buses for Korba was approved. Along with this, a proposal of Rs 70.34 crore for civil infrastructure of BTM and bus depot was approved to be sent to the Government of India.
The main objective of the Pradhan Mantri e-Bus Seva Yojana is to improve the infrastructure of public transport in cities. Under this scheme started by the central government, the number of buses has been determined for the states on the basis of the population of the cities. Through this scheme, cities will be developed as an alternative or supporting means of metro, so that people can get the facility of affordable, reliable and smooth transport.

The e-bus service will improve air quality in the cities of Chhattisgarh by reducing carbon emissions and will promote environmental protection. Along with this, the facility of low energy consumption, better fuel efficiency and comfortable travel will also be available.
Secretary of Transport Department S. Prakash, Secretary of Urban Administration and Development Department Basavaraju S, Special Secretary Finance Sheetal Shashwat Verma along with other officials and committee members were present in the meeting.
