UHRC empowers women in Indore’s slum areas with breastfeeding awareness
1 min readIndore(Team Newsbuddy) : The Urban Health Resource Centre (UHRC) recently conducted impactful awareness sessions on the importance of breastfeeding in three deprived slum neighborhoods: Avantika Nagar, New Indira Ekta Nagar, and New Jagdeesh Nagar. Targeting pregnant and lactating mothers, these sessions were organized during World Breastfeeding Week to emphasize the significance of breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and proper nutrition practices for healthy newborns and infants.
The sessions saw a large turnout of women, eager to learn and discuss their doubts with the UHRC team. Ms. Shabnam Verma, the Capacity Building Coordinator of the Urban Health Resource Centre, led the informative sessions. The breastfeeding awareness was followed by an open forum where women received answers to their queries related to breastfeeding and children’s nutrition, ensuring they gained accurate knowledge on these crucial topics.
These sessions not only provided valuable information but also empowered women with the knowledge and confidence needed to make informed decisions about their children’s health and nutrition.
