SCER Sports Association Raipur to host chess competition

Raipur (Team Newsbuddy) : South-East Central Railway Sports Association Raipur is organizing a two-day “Shatranj Ka Chaturang” Chess Competition for the first time at Railway Institute Kharun Rail Vihar under the leadership of Senior Sports Officer Rahul Garg. In which about 80 central government offices were invited, out of which 52 players from 15 departments had sent their entries. The competition was inaugurated by Divisional Railway Manager Sanjeev Kumar. Employees of big central offices like NTPC, Audit Department, Postal Department, AIIMS Central PWD Department, BSNL participated in the competition.

For the coordination of central government employees, for the first time in Raipur, an initiative has been taken by South East Central Railway Sports Association Raipur, which assured the Divisional Railway Manager to continue such events continuously in future.

This competition is being played as an individual and team event. Two rounds of the individual tournament were played in which all the seeded players easily won their matches and entered the next round. In the team event, AG Office is in first place by winning all its matches, South-East Central Railway is currently in second place. The remaining matches of the competition will be played from Saturday.

Four international rated players are playing in this tournament. In which Vinod Sharma of South-East Central Railway is the top seated player. The competition is being conducted under the guidance of International Empire Anees Ansari. The closing ceremony of the competition will start on Saturday.
The winning players will be awarded cash prizes and trophies.
