2 min read

New Delhi (Team Newsbuddy): Sujay, a helicopter-equipped offshore patrol vessel of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), arrived at Incheon, South Korea on 04 September 2024, as part of its current overseas deployment in East Asia. During this four-day visit, the ICG team will engage in professional interactions with the Korea Coast Guard (KCG). The interactions will focus on marine pollution response, maritime search and rescue and maritime law enforcement. Activities related to the visit also include cross-deck training, joint yoga sessions, friendly sports events and passage exercises with the KCG.

In line with the Government’s initiative ‘Puneet Sagar Abhiyaan’ and to enhance international connectivity, a total of 10 NCC cadets on board the ICG ship will participate in Environmental Conservation Walkathon along with local youth organisations to sensitize the community on the ill-effects of marine plastic pollution.

The port visit of the ICG ship during the 20th Heads of Coast Guard Agency Meeting at Incheon underlines the resolve and shared concerns of the ICG to address contemporary maritime challenges for shared global well-being.
On 13 March 2006, the ICG had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the KCG to enhance maritime cooperation and institutionalize its collaborative activities. Prior to the visit, ICG Ship Sujay had arrived at the Port of Jakarta, Indonesia, demonstrating seamless continuity of diplomatic maritime activities in the region
