Raipur (Team Newsbuddy): On 25 June 1975, the then Prime Minister of the country, who had lost the election, Indira Gandhi imposed emergency in the country and took the entire power of the country in her hands and declared emergency in the entire country. During that time, social political activists, intellectuals, journalists, lawyers, doctors and professionals from all over the country who were opposing the emergency were imprisoned indefinitely. During that time, young men happily remained in jail to protect democracy by putting their careers at stake.

BJP’s state governments named the agitators who stood against Indira’s repression as democracy freedom fighters and issued a Samman Nidhi of Rs 25,000 per month.

Madhya Pradesh government took a step forward and gave state honours to the democracy freedom fighters when they die.
