High Court acquits accused sentenced to death in wife , daughter murder case

Ranchi (Team Newsbuddy): Jharkhand High Court has acquitted Anand Kumar Dangi, accused of killing his pregnant wife and one-year-old daughter and throwing their bodies in a well in Chauparan police station area of ​​​​Hazaribagh district. Anand Kumar Dangi was sentenced to death by the Civil Court of Hazaribagh district in September 2023. The High Court has found that there is a lack of evidence in this case. The state government had filed a petition in the High Court to confirm the death sentence given by the civil court.
On the other hand, convicted Anand Kumar Dangi had filed an appeal challenging the decision of the civil court. After the hearing on both these petitions was completed, the High Court bench pronounced the verdict on Thursday. This incident took place in the year 2018 in Chauparan block of Hazaribagh district. Pritam Dangi, father of the deceased Angira Kumari, had lodged an FIR in the Chauparan police station in the case. It was alleged that Anand Dangi first cut his pregnant wife Angira Kumari and one-year-old daughter with a sharp weapon and then threw their bodies into the well.
During the investigation of the case, the police also recovered the weapon used in the murder along with the bodies. In the chargesheet filed by the police, it was claimed that Anand Kumar Dangi had an illicit relationship with another woman. That is why he committed this heinous crime.
According to the report, Angira Kumari was married to Anand Kumar Dangi in 2014. At the time of the incident, their daughter was one year old and Angira Kumar was six months pregnant. The accused used to work as a helper on a truck. Anand Kumar had called his wife Angira Kumar near a well. During this time, he killed his wife with a sharp weapon and threw her body in the well. When his daughter reached there, he killed her too and threw her body in the well.
