Lightning wreaks havoc in Chhattisgarh: 8 killed including 5 children, many injured

Raipur (Team Newsbuddy). Lightning took the lives of many people in Chhattisgarh on Sunday evening, while many were injured. In Rajnandgaon and Janjgir-Champa districts, lightning that fell from the sky as death took the lives of 8 people including 5 school children.

The first incident is from village Joratarai in Rajnandgaon district, where many people were hit by lightning amid heavy rain. The deceased include four school children and four youths. According to the information, all the children were returning from school when suddenly the weather turned bad and it started raining. At the same time, four children and four other youths were hit by lightning. The incident is being reported under Somani police station area. As soon as the information about this accident was received, the administration and police team immediately reached the spot. Rajnandgaon Collector and other officials have also left for the spot to take stock of the situation and provide all possible help to the families of the victims.

Lightning wreaks havoc in Janjgir-Champa too:

On the same day, an 11-year-old child died due to lightning in village Sukli of Janjgir-Champa district, while 8 youths were injured. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon around 3 o’clock, when 20 to 22 youths and children of Sukli village were celebrating a picnic near the village pond. Suddenly the weather changed, lightning started falling along with strong storm and rain. Some people stood under a nearby mango tree for safety. Meanwhile, 9 people were injured after being hit by a strong lightning.

The injured were immediately admitted to the District Hospital Janjgir, where 11-year-old Chandrahas Darvesh was declared dead during treatment. The treatment of the other 8 injured is going on and their condition is said to be stable. According to the hospital administration, all the injured are undergoing treatment and their condition is getting normal.
