2 min readBhopal (Team Newsbuddy): Anurag Jain will be the new Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh. He will hold this post till August 2025. Jain is a 1989 batch IAS officer. The service extension of the current Chief Secretary Veera Rana is ending on 30 September i.e. today. By making Jain the Chief Secretary, no officer will be superseded.
The basis of his appointment is his experience and seniority. However, he is also the choice of CM Dr. Mohan Yadav. There was talk of making Anurag Jain CS nine months ago as well, when he met CM Dr. Mohan Yadav at MP Bhawan in Delhi. It was believed that he could return to MP soon.
Anurag Jain was on central deputation from 30 May 2020. There was talk of Jain becoming the Chief Secretary even at the time of the extension of former Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, but the Center did not leave him. Let us tell you, along with Anurag Jain, the names of Rajesh Rajoura, Mohammad Suleman and JN Consotia were also in discussion for the post of Chief Secretary.
Command of Road, Transport and Highway Ministry at the Center
Anurag Jain, who was a joint secretary in the PMO 10 years ago, has been given the command of the most important ministry, Road, Transport and Highway in the third term of the Modi government. Jain has been the secretary of the then Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan twice. He has also been the collector of Bhopal. Jain is considered a good expert in financial management.
This is the reason why after returning from central deputation in 2019, the Kamal Nath government entrusted him with the responsibility of the Finance Department. But in May 2020, he again went to the Center on deputation. Anurag Jain has also served as the Acting Chairman and Acting Managing Director of the Export-Import Bank of India from December 2013 to February 2014
