State level training conference on household consumption on health held

Raipur (Team Newsbuddy): National Statistics Office, Regional Office, Raipur organized a State Level Training Conference on 16 December to train officers/employees for the 80th Round of National Sample Survey at Conference Hall of New Circuit House, Civil Lines, Raipur in which officials from all National Statistics Offices located in Chhattisgarh state viz. Durg, Bilaspur, Ambikapur and Raipur were imparted training for the two surveys of 80th Round of NSS.
The state level training conference was inaugurated on 16 December, 2024 by Altaf Hussain Haji, Deputy Director General, National Statistics Office, Regional Office, Raipur by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Dinesh Tiwari, Deputy Director, Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Government of Chhattisgarh, Rishabh Singh Shyam, Assistant Director, National Statistics Office, Bilaspur and R.K. Shrivastava, Senior Statistical Officer, National Statistics Office, Raipur were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Altaf Hussain Haji, Deputy Director General said that key indicators such as morbidity rates, hospitalization rates, and the use of public versus private healthcare institutions will be collected through Survey on Social Consumption on Health. The survey places a particular emphasis on out-of-pocket healthcare expenses and access to government-financed health insurance programs. These metrics help to assess the financial strain on households and the efficiency of public health insurance schemes. This survey is essential for obtaining reliable data on public health and healthcare service usage. It enables policymakers to make informed decisions about resource allocation, identify health gaps and disparities in healthcare access, monitor and improve healthcare policies & address the economic burden on households due to healthcare expenses. By collecting data across diverse aspects of health, the survey offers insights that are crucial for improving healthcare delivery, planning effective health interventions, and ensuring equitable access to medical care.
While emphasizing the importance of Comprehensive Modular Survey on Telecom (CMS-T), Altaf Hussain Haji, Deputy Director General said that the data collected through CMS-T will play a crucial role in supporting the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). It will help in future planning and decision-making, enabling the creation of effective policies and initiatives that promote digital transformation, connectivity and ICT skill development. Overall, the CMS-T survey provides a comprehensive snapshot of the telecommunications landscape, helping shape policies that foster digital inclusion, improve connectivity, and support technological advancements.

Together, these surveys help provide a comprehensive view of the health sector and telecom infrastructure, offering valuable insights into healthcare consumption patterns and the state of digital connectivity across the country.

The National Statistical Office (NSO), established by the Government of India in 1950, conducts surveys on various socio-economic subjects through scientific sampling methods. The officers of the National Statistical Office collect the data through specially designed schedules and questionnaires for these surveys.

In the same sequence, 80th round of National Sample Survey (NSS) is going to be conducted from 01 January, 2025 to 31 December, 2025. Under this 80th Round of NSS, Survey on Household Consumption on Health will be conducted by the National Statistics Office (NSO) from 1 January to 31 December, 2025 and Comprehensive Modular Survey on Telecom (CMS-T) will be conducted from 1 January to 31 March, 2025. 80th Round of NSS instruments are designed in such a fashion that short duration surveys on different themes can be conducted using same listing.

Under Survey of Household Consumption on Health, country wide survey will be conducted in the urban and rural areas of the country, through which data will be collected on Prevalence of Morbidity, Use of Health Services, Hospitalization & Medical care, Communicable Diseases, Childbirth & Maternal Health, Immunization of Children, Elderly Population Health, Morbidity & Hospitalization Indicators.

The Comprehensive Modular Survey on Telecom (CMS-T) will serve as a vital tool for collecting essential data on the state of telecommunications and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Key objectives of this survey are to identify Data Gaps, gather Telecom-Related Indicators, gauge the level of ICT Literacy & Skills, identify Ex
isting Policy Needs in the Telecom & ICT Sectors.
