Government wants to postpone elections of local bodies due to fear of defeat: Congress
2 min readRaipur (Team Newsbuddy): Reacting to the sudden postponement of the announced timetable of the reservation process in the three-tier panchayat elections, State Congress President Deepak Baij has said that the BJP government wants to postpone the elections of local bodies due to fear of defeat. This government is having trouble in paddy procurement, there is anger against the BJP government in the entire state due to the disruption of paddy procurement due to lack of tokens, gunny bags, irregularities in weighing, lack of transportation and milling, due to which this government is scared and wants to postpone the local body elections without any reason to avoid defeat.
State Congress President Deepak Baij has said that the process of reservation for the three-tier panchayat elections, which was to be conducted from today, 17 December, has been suddenly postponed. The government, which is neck deep in corruption, now wants to postpone the elections of local bodies due to fear of defeat. BJP MLAs themselves are complaining about giving tenders to ineligible contractors in Jal Jeevan Mission and Smart City, giving work to their favorite contractors with fake documents and open corruption. The misdeeds of the PWD department are well known, where work was done without tender, without approval, without work order, at higher rates and later the tender was given to the same contractor. Within 1 year, this government has become extremely unpopular, and this is why BJP is running away from the local body elections.
State Congress President Deepak Baij has said that due to the elections not being held on time, a constitutional crisis is arising in the local bodies of the state. This government had to prepare for the elections 6 months ago, but even when the time for completion of the term has come, this government is still not able to complete the process of reservation. First the time for urban body elections was extended by 6 months, and now the announced timetable for the reservation process for the Panchayat elections has been postponed. The common workers of the political parties await the local body elections. The common voter has the right to elect his representative every five years. In such a situation, the BJP government is throttling the rights of the candidates and voters by unnecessarily delaying the elections.
