NIT Raipur hosts expert talk session on nature ,mind control

Raipur(Team Newsbuddy): NIT Raipur’s Think India & Bhaskaracharya Study Circle, in collaboration with NITRRFIE and IIT Bhilai, successfully organized an expert talk session on “Nature and Mind Control” at E Hall, NIT Raipur. The event featured distinguished speakers, including His Holiness Sri Sri Shankara Bharati Mahaswamiji, Peethadheeshwara of Yadatore Sri Yoganandeshwara Saraswati Mutth, who shared insights on Vedantic perspectives, and Dr. Mulchand Harjani, Consultant Psychiatrist from NH Hospital Raipur, who provided scientific viewpoints. The event also saw the presence of Dr. N.V. Ramana Rao,Director, NIT Raipur. This program was organized under the guidance of Dr. Rajana Suresh Kumar, Faculty in Charge of Bhaskaracharya Study Circle. Dr. Dilip Singh Sisodia, Dr. Govardhan Bhatt, faculty members, staff and students were present in this program.

In his talk, Dr. Mulchand Harjani, Consultant Psychiatrist from NH Hospital, Raipur, highlighted the importance of mind control as a lifelong personal task essential for achieving inner peace and integration of personality. He addressed challenges like involuntary thinking, anxiety, and restlessness of the subconscious mind, emphasizing the need for ethical evolution and detachment. Dr. Harjani also cautioned against seeking pleasure in harmful ways and discussed how habits can simplify mind control, underscoring its value in overcoming modern challenges, including misuse of drugs, while promoting balanced living.

His Holiness Sri Sri Shankara Bharati Mahaswamiji delivered a profound discourse on the mind’s nature and functions from a Vedantic perspective. Using the chariot metaphor, he explained the senses as horses, the mind as reins, the intellect as the charioteer, and the soul as the warrior. Swamiji discussed the mind’s gross, subtle, and astral aspe
cts and its workings, referencing functional MRI to analyze thought patterns. He emphasized techniques for mind control, including pranayama, recitations, spiritual practices, and Haristuti, while explaining various slokas to guide the audience toward mental discipline and spiritual growth.

At the end of the program, Dr. N.V. Ramanna Rao delivered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to all the guests for their contributions. He emphasized the importance of such events and encouraged students to make continuous efforts in practicing mind control. Finally, mementos were presented to the guests, and the event concluded with the national anthem.
