First seeded Alok Sinha of Delhi defeated Bhopal’s Suraj Chaudhary while eighth seeded AIM Chaitanya Avadh of Jabalpur defeated Ujjain’s Anand Singh Kushwaha in the final round and staked their claim for the second position with a total of 8/9 points. According to the tie-break rules, Alok Sinha won the second position and Chaitanya Avadh came third and won prize money of 15 thousand and 10 thousand respectively. In the competition, many seeded players had to face difficulties in their path to becoming the winner due to unexpected defeat or the match ending in a draw. In which 3 matches played on top tables were prominent in which third seeded Vaibhav Jayant Raut of Maharashtra started aggressively using Nimzo Indian Defence and destroyed the security circle of Bhopal’s Vedant Bhardwaj’s pawns in the initial moves itself and separated two pawns from other pawns by placing them in a single line and taking advantage of this weakness, created pressure due to which finally Vedant accepted defeat after 35 moves and similarly in the final round, Vaibhav continued his winning streak and became the winner.
First seeded Alok Sinha of Delhi started aggressively with Sicilian Classical Defence and with the help of his experience, by placing his knight in the opponent’s camp, cleverly eliminated Siddharth Upadhyay’s black camel, which was an important player in this opening, from the game very soon and established a pair of two camels in his camp, which was sure to be beneficial but in a game of 62 moves, Siddharth, with his well-planned play and patient decisions, kept Alok away from winning and finally both the players agreed on a draw, but Alok won in the last round and secured second place.
