Celebrate birth anniversary of Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule as Teachers’ Day

1 min read

Raipur (Team Newsbuddy): Third January is the birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule, who took the first initiative for women’s education in India. The first school for girls was opened in Poona on 1st January 1848 through the efforts of her and her husband and teacher Mahatma Jyotiba Phule. Savitribai was helped in this effort by Fatima Sheikh. Savitribai Phule, despite facing the oppression and strong opposition of the Brahminic Manuvadi society, dedicated her entire life to women’s education, provision of shelter homes for women who were victims of the atrocities of the Brahminic male-dominated society and to oppose the violent caste system. We, the friends associated with the caste abolition movement, instead of celebrating the birthday of Sanatanist Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan on 5th September as Teachers’ Day, should celebrate the birthday of Savitribai Phule, the pioneer of renaissance, women’s liberation and women’s education, on 3rd January as Teachers’ Day. We appeal to the public. Today, this is also necessary to counter the Manuwadi attack of the Sanghi corporate fascists in the entire country.
