Amit Kumar Agarwal, brother of Mahadev Satta App promoter Anil Agarwal, was arrested by ACB on 12 January 2024 in the Hawala case. ED has registered a separate case in the matter in May 2024. Jailed accused Amit Agarwal had submitted a bail application in the High Court. The application said that the applicant’s name is not in the registered FIR. He has been implicated in a false case. 145 witnesses are to be cross examined in the case. In this, citing the example of Supreme Court justices Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, bail was demanded.

ED advocate Saurabh Pandey, while opposing the bail, told the court that on the basis of strong evidence, cases have been registered against the accused in various police stations of the country including Durg, Raipur. The accused used betting apps and bought property at various places in the name of his wife. Transactions of Rs 1.20 crore were made on different dates, which were transferred to his and his wife’s account.

Entries of cash deposits and receipts have been recorded in the bank accounts of his family members. The arrangement of Rs 70 lakh was made by the accused’s brother Anil Agarwal, who lives in Dubai. Justice Ravindra Kumar Agarwal, after hearing both the parties, said in his order that on the basis of evidence collected during the investigation and the statements of witnesses are against the applicant, hence it is not appropriate to grant bail.
