Congress’ state-wide dharna on 15th against cut in OBC reservation

2 min read

Raipur (Team Newsbuddy): Congress will protest against the cut in reservation for backward classes by organizing a one-day dharna in all the district headquarters of the state on January 15. State Congress President Deepak Baij said that the BJP government deliberately conspired to spread class conflict in the state by cutting the reservation for backward classes so that the majority population of the state is deprived of contesting elections. First it was said that 50 percent reservation will be done for backward classes, when the rule was made, the reservation for backward classes reached zero. Not a single post of District Panchayat President was reserved for backward classes in the entire state.

Deepak Baij said that BJP members say that Congress is spreading confusion in the reservation of backward classes, then BJP leaders and the government should tell what arrangements have been made for backward classes in their new reservation provision? Why has the reservation of backward classes decreased in panchayats? Why was there no reservation for backward classes in even a single Zila Panchayat President post? BJP has hatched this conspiracy to create class conflict among the reserved classes of the state.

He said that the reserved classes have suffered a great loss in Bastar and Surguja divisions. There is nothing left for the Other Backward Classes in the five districts of Surguja division Ambikapur, Balrampur, Surajpur, Korea, Manendragarh, Chirmiri, Bharatpur Sonhat, 7 districts of Bastar, Bastar, Kanker, Kondagaon, Dantewada, Narayanpur, Sukma, Bijapur including Manpur Mohla, Jashpur, Gairola Pendra Marwahi, and Korba district.

The results of the conspiratorial anti-OBC changes made by this government in the reservation provisions in the local body (three-tier Panchayat and urban body) elections are out. This government has committed a big robbery of the rights and privileges of OBCs in the reservation of Zila Panchayat, Janpad Panchayat, Sarpanch and all five for the three-tier Panchayat elections 2025. In the three-tier Panchayat Raj institutions, out of 16 constituencies in Raipur District Panchayat, only 4 are reserved for OBCs. Out of 17 seats for members in Bilaspur district, only one constituency number 1 is reserved for OBC women, not a single seat out of 17 is reserved for OBC men.
