Ranchi (Team Newsbuddy): To overcome the deepening crisis and existing problems faced by newspapers across the country, the newly formed All India Newspaper Publishers – Editors Association demanded to completely exempt newsprint from GST in an important meeting held at Ranchi Press Club here . Regarding this demand, the association will organize a national level conference in New Delhi in the coming month of February and will urge the central government to find a solution to this problem. Publishers – editors of more than four dozen newspapers from various states including Bihar, Jharkhand, New Delhi, present in the meeting, said that today the newspapers of the country are going through many difficulties and the association will make continuous efforts to overcome them.

According to the decision taken in the meeting, the issue of exempting newspapers, especially newsprint, from GST and completely abolishing the GST imposed on print media advertisements will be raised prominently by the Newspaper Publishers – Editors Association. In the meeting of the association, there was a consensus on the issue that if GST on newsprint is not withdrawn immediately, then along with keeping the new policy of circulation testing on hold, the government should constitute a commission to review it and the commission should do a thorough study regarding removing the difficulties faced by the newspapers at the government level and submit a report to the central government.
