Major operation of security forces, 12 Naxalites killed in Bijapur
1 min readBijapur (Team Newsbuddy): Security forces have got great success in the operation conducted against Naxalites in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. An encounter took place between security forces and Naxalites on the border of Bijapur and Telangana, in which 12 Naxalites have been killed so far. Security forces have intensified the operation against Naxalites and the area has been completely cordoned off.
Soldiers of three districts are conducting a major operation against Naxalites on the border of Bijapur and Telangana. An encounter between security forces and Naxalites is going on since 09:00 am in Marudhabaka and Pujari Kanker areas of Bijapur.
On the information of the presence of big cadres of Maoists, a joint team of DRG Bijapur, DRG Sukma, DRG Dantewada, Cobra 204, 205, 206, 208, 210 and CRPF 229 battalion is conducting the operation.
Two commandos of the CRPF’s Cobra unit were injured when a pressure improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxalites exploded in Bijapur district.
The police officer said that the incident took place in the Basaguda police station area in the early hours when a joint team of security forces was out on a domination operation in the area. He said that the operation involved soldiers of the 229th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the 206th battalion of Cobra (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), an elite jungle warfare unit of the CRPF. The officer said that according to preliminary information, the soldiers inadvertently came in contact with the pressure IED, which exploded and two of them were injured.
