Naxalite with reward of 8 lakhs arrested in Kanker, ammunition recovered
1 min readKanker (Team Newsbuddy). Security forces achieved a major success under the Naxal eradication campaign in Kanker district. On January 17, DRG and BSF personnel encountered Naxalites in the forest and hilly area of village Sitaram under police station Chhote Bethia. During this encounter, Naxalite Rakesh alias Motiram Usendi, carrying a reward of 8 lakhs, was arrested.
On receiving information about the presence of Naxalites, a joint team of soldiers of 47th and 94th battalions of DRG and BSF conducted a search operation. Naxalites ambushed and started firing in the forest between village Sitaram and Konge. In self-defense, the security forces also retaliated, which continued intermittently for about an hour.
After the encounter, the security forces recovered a large quantity of weapons and Naxalite materials from the spot. These include:
Weapons: One Bharmar gun, one indigenous air pistol, indigenous BGL cells (7 pieces).
Technical equipment: Drill machine, digital multimeter, battery charger, battery.
Other material: Naxalite uniform, juicer, camouflage backpack.
The arrested Naxalite Motiram alias Rakesh Usendi is a resident of Durgukandal area and was the commander of platoon number 2 of Military Company Number 5.
All the security force personnel remained safe in the encounter. Earlier, an old camp of Naxalites was also destroyed under the operation. After the operation was successfully completed, all the soldiers returned to the camp safely.
