Devendra Malviya, born in the small village of Dedtalai, between Burhanpur and Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh, comes from a family of farmers. His childhood was like that of millions of other Indian children, but he had an extraordinary dream – to become an actor in the film industry.

However, the distance between Dedtalai and Mumbai was not just physical; it was also a gap between a simple rural life and the glamorous city life. It was a chasm between social classes, economic inequalities, dreams, and opportunities.

After completing his education at a government school in the village, Devendra graduated in Microbiology from Indore. During this time, he also worked as a medical representative for a while. However, his dream of becoming an actor remained alive. Finally, he decided to leave everything behind and move to Mumbai. His experience in Mumbai was a mix of hope and disappointment. The period between 2004 and 2010 was a challenging time for him.

Despite the struggles, Devendra learned about world cinema and discovered his hidden talent for direction. The hardships in Mumbai shaped him not only as a director but also as a poet and writer. His creativity is evident in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan campaign and the Indore Swachhta Anthem, which played a crucial role in keeping Indore as India’s cleanest city for eight consecutive years.

Devendra bid farewell to Mumbai, but with a promise to return not as a seeker but as a giver. He made Indore his workspace and founded Midas Touch Films & Advertising in 2011. His company has directed advertising films and campaigns for the Madhya Pradesh government, Indore Municipal Corporation, and other prominent organizations. Devendra was also chosen as an advisor to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), reflecting his deep knowledge and experience in Indian cinema.

His direction has not only guided social campaigns but also set a new benchmark for quality and creativity in cinema.

Devendra Malviya made history in Indian cinema by writing, directing, and producing India’s first single-take feature film, “2020 Delhi.” This film, based on the 2020 Delhi riots, impressed audiences and critics alike with its realistic portrayal and gripping narrative. “2020 Delhi” is not only a personal achievement for Devendra Malviya but also an attempt to lay a strong foundation for the film industry in Madhya Pradesh.

The story and production of this film will inspire upcoming filmmakers that exceptional and world-class cinema can be made not just in Mumbai but also in their own state and city. This film is not just the story of an artist’s dreams but also a testament to the power of passion and creativity. With determination and hard work, Devendra Malviya proved that every dream can be achieved.

As a poet and lyricist, Devendra has written songs like “Jeetega Indore,” “Jwala Jwala Hey Maa Jwala,” and “Swachchhata Ka Punch,” which not only convey social messages but also touch hearts with their sensitivity. After struggling and facing defeat in Mumbai, Devendra has shown that with courage and perseverance, every obstacle can be overcome.

Against all odds, a small-town boy achieved the unthinkable – writing, directing, and producing India’s first single-take feature film. He also wrote the dialogues and songs for the film. This is not just a film; it’s a symbol of human courage and the triumph of faith. Devendra Malviya’s story is an inspiration for every individual who dares to dream and has the courage to take risks to achieve them.
