91st National Billiards and Snooker Championship

Indore: The 91st National 6-Red Snooker Championship, organized by the Billiards and Snooker Federation of India, has started at the Yashwant Club in Indore. The tournament features top players from across the country, including Aditya Mehta, Pankaj Advani, Priyank Jayaswal, Anurag Giri, and Piyush Kushwaha.

In the league matches, PSPB’s Aditya Mehta, a former national champion, World Games champion, and Asian Snooker champion, made a strong start by defeating UP’s Anjum Khan 4-0. PSPB’s Pankaj Advani, a 28-time world champion, also made a strong start by defeating Delhi’s Jason Malhotra 4-2.

Other players from Madhya Pradesh also made a strong start. Priyank Jayaswal defeated Bihar’s Ayush Sinha 4-0, Anurag Giri defeated Railway’s P. Panduranga 4-1, and Piyush Kushwaha defeated Jharkhand’s Yash K. 4-1.

In other matches, UP’s Paras Gupta defeated Railway’s Robin D’Souza 4-2, J&K’s Kamran Majid defeated Assam’s Sahil Daga 4-0, Gujarat’s Dhruv Patel defeated Chhattisgarh’s Aashish Thawani 4-0, Chhattisgarh’s Sagar Lakhwani defeated UP’s Vinayak Agarwal 4-0, UP’s Akshay Kumar defeated Goa’s Sheikh Kafeel 4-0, Haryana’s Digvijay Kadian defeated Delhi’s Abhishek Ahuja 4-1, Maharashtra’s Sameer Mago defeated Andhra Pradesh’s Kameshwar Sharma 4-1, and Chandigarh’s Ranveer Duggal defeated Railway’s Peter Paul 4-0.

The 6-Red Snooker format has been introduced to make the game more popular, similar to the T20 format in cricket. The format features six red balls, which makes the game faster and more exciting for the youth. Currently, Madhya Pradesh’s Kamal Chawla, a Railway player, is the IBSSF World 6-Red Snooker Champion. He won his first IBSSF World 6-Red title by defeating Pakistan’s Asjad Iqbal 6-2 in the final last year.”
