Plane fell on road, then exploded
1 min readNew York (Team Newsbuddy): A small plane crashed in Northeast Philadelphia, after which emergency services personnel reached the spot. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed in a statement that the crashed plane was a Learjet 55. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said he is offering all state resources for assistance. Fire officials confirmed that several houses caught fire after the accident in the area of Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard around 6 pm.
Several explosions in the middle of the road The accident site is less than 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) from Northeast Philadelphia Airport, which is mainly used by business jets and charter flights. Philadelphia’s Emergency Management Office described the accident as a ‘major incident’ and confirmed road closures in the area. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said information about the accident is being collected. Work is being done to find out the cause behind the accident and ensure public safety.
