Cabinet approves Waqf Amendment Bill, preparations to present in Parliament

New Delhi (Team Newsbuddy): The Cabinet approved the Waqf Amendment Bill. According to sources, it has been given the green signal on the basis of the JPC report. It can be presented during the second part of the budget session of Parliament.
According to sources, these amendments were approved in the cabinet meeting of February 19. The bill has been approved on the basis of these amendments. The Waqf Bill was first introduced in August last year. But due to opposition from the opposition, it was sent to the Parliamentary Committee. Later, after some amendments, this committee led by Jagdambika Pal submitted the report to the government. After this, the report of the Parliamentary Committee on the Waqf Bill was presented in Parliament on February 13. Based on the report of the committee, a new draft of the Waqf Bill was prepared. Now this bill has been approved by the Modi cabinet. The bill can be presented in the second part of the budget session. The second part of the budget session will run from March 10 to April 4. Let us tell you that earlier, calling the JPC report on the Waqf Bill fake, the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge had said that we do not accept such a fake report, the House will never accept it.
JPC had given approval on January 29
The Parliamentary Committee had approved its report on new changes in the Waqf Bill on January 29. There were 15 votes in favor of this report and 14 against it. The report includes those changes which were given by BJP MPs. Opposition MPs had submitted dissent notes calling it an attempt to abolish the Waqf Boards. The opposition had lodged many objections regarding the Waqf Bill. Apart from this, the proposal to remove the ‘Waqf by User’ provision was also opposed.
