Woman loses Rs 51 lakh in free gift voucher scam

New Delhi (Team Newsbuddy): Cyber fraud has taken place in the name of Amazon gift voucher in Greater Noida near Delhi. A woman lost 51 lakh rupees in this fraud. Meenu Rani, who lives in Greater Noida, was first included in a WhatsApp group by unknown people. After this, this voucher was shared with the woman in the WhatsApp group.
In this group, her trust was won by promising to give her a voucher of e-commerce website Amazon for free. After this, she was cheated of Rs 51 lakh. Meenu Rani, who became a victim of online fraud, has lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police Station on March 8, 2025.
The fraud started when a person named Hari Singh contacted the victim woman Meenu Rani on social media.
Hari Singh introduced himself as an investment guide with 15 years of experience. After this, Meenu Rani was talked to and convinced to join a WhatsApp group.
Meenu told that in this group people discuss about successful ways of investing money in the market. Meenu Rani joined the WhatsApp group after falling into the trap of Hari Singh in the greed of earning more profit from the stock market.
In the complaint given to the police, Meenu Rani told that after some time she came in contact with Aarti Singh in the WhatsApp group. Aarti told her that Hari Singh has bought Amazon gift vouchers worth one thousand rupees to help every female member in investment. Aarti told Meenu that to get this gift voucher, she (Meenu) should login to her Amazon account. Meenu did the same and she got one thousand rupees deposited in her Amazon account balance. This increased Meenu Rani’s trust in Hari Singh and his WhatsApp group. After this, these fraudsters lured her to earn three to five times profit in a month by investing money in the stock market.
