Mumbai (Team Newsbuddy): While talking to the media , Devendra Fadnavis made a big statement about Aurangzeb’s tomb. He said that this question is not only of his government but of all the people that Aurangzeb’s tomb should be removed.

However, he also clarified that some work has to be done according to the law in this matter, because this tomb was preserved during the reign of Congress and since then the protection of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is being received by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Fadnavis also said that the conservation of the tomb was done under a legal process, and it is necessary to follow the law to remove it or make changes in it. He said that no decision can be taken in haste on this subject.

Actually, CM Fadnavis had reached the ‘Gurmat Samagam’ program organized on the occasion of the 350th martyrdom year of ‘Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji Maharaj’ in Mumbai, where he made this statement. His statement has come amid the growing controversy over Aurangzeb’s tomb in the state, in which many political and religious organizations are demanding the removal of this tomb.

It is worth noting that two days ago, under an RTI from Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, this information was revealed that the Central Archaeological Department has spent about Rs 6.5 lakh from 2011 to 2023 on the maintenance of Aurangzeb’s tomb. Regarding this matter, the committee had raised the question that why so much money is being spent for the maintenance of Aurangzeb’s tomb, while on the other hand only Rs 6 thousand are being given in a year for the maintenance of Raj Rajeshwar temple located on Sindhudurg Fort.

The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti had alleged that the Central Archaeological Department was spending so much money on the maintenance of Aurangzeb’s tomb, while such priority was not being given to the maintenance of other religious places. The committee termed this as discriminatory and demanded a clarification from the government on this issue.
