Raipur: The statement made by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai recently regarding the Bastar region is not only a political declaration, but also a symbol of faith and resolve towards the future of the state. His statement makes it clear that the government is fully committed to make Bastar the ‘crown jewel’ of Chhattisgarh after the end of Naxalism.

Ending Naxalism: A Solid Strategy:

The Chief Minister confidently said that Chhattisgarh will be completely freed from Naxalism by March 2026. He expressed this confidence on the deadline set by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the cooperation of the central government. Vishnudev Sai believes that the security forces are getting continuous success in the ongoing operations in Naxal-affected areas, and its result will soon come in the form of complete elimination of Naxalism. The Bastar region, which was once a major center of Naxalite violence, is now slowly moving towards peace and development. The increasing number of surrenders of Naxalites – more than 1300 in the last 15 months – shows the effectiveness of the government’s strategy. The new Naxalite Surrender, Victim Relief Rehabilitation Policy-2025 is a product of this thinking, in which not only better rehabilitation is being provided to the surrenderers, but facilities like compensation, employment and land are also being provided to the victims of violence.

Multidimensional strategy and joint task force:

The Chhattisgarh government has adopted a multi-pronged strategy to deal with Naxalism. A joint task force has been formed in collaboration with neighboring states – Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Maharashtra – which is working to curb the activities of Naxalites in the border areas. Its objective is to prevent Naxalites from fleeing from one state to another and crush their activities through coordinated operations. The Chief Minister clarified that the government’s policy has been ‘talk for talk and bullet for bullet’, but at the same time efforts are also being made to bring those who surrender into the mainstream. This balanced approach is laying the foundation of lasting peace in the state.

Niyada Nellnar Yojana: Holistic Rural Development:

To take development to the grassroots level, the Chhattisgarh government has launched the “Niyaada Nellnar Yojana”, which means – “Your Good Village”. Under this, 52 schemes of 17 departments and 31 community facilities are being provided in the villages around the security camps. Road construction, laying of power lines, making ration cards, providing government documents – all these measures are important steps taken towards connecting the remote areas of Bastar with the mainstream. This is not only improving the standard of living of the people, but has also increased the trust in the government. Now the people of Bastar themselves want an end to Naxalism.

Tourism and the beauty of Bastar

The government’s vision of developing Bastar as a tourist hub is also quite clear. Chief Minister Sai said that the calm and green environment of Bastar, waterfalls, caves and dense forests make it extremely important from the tourism point of view. Chitrakote Falls, which is called the “Niagara of Asia”, is a prime example of this. Last year, Dhudmaras village and Kanger Valley National Park of Bastar got a place on the world tourism map, due to which there is a huge potential of tourism in this area. The government is promoting homestay projects, which is giving direct economic benefits to the local tribals. Tourism has now also been given the status of industry, which is creating new opportunities for investment and employment in this sector.

Development plan: Balance and caution:

The Chief Minister also clarified that industrialization will not be done forcefully in Bastar. Responding to the concerns raised about mining, he said that no industry will be set up without consulting the local people.

A provision for public hearing has been made in the new industry policy, so that the consent of the local community can be ensured. The government aims to promote minor forest produce, animal husbandry and tourism based industries while protecting the biodiversity and cultural heritage of Bastar.

Future of Bastar: The crown jewel of Chhattisgarh:

Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has predicted that Bastar will become the most developed and prosperous region of Chhattisgarh in the coming 10 years. With the end of Naxalism, new possibilities of development will be born here. The availability of minerals like iron ore, bauxite, coal, tin, gold and lithium in this mineral-rich region makes Bastar extremely important from an industrial and economic point of view. But the government’s aim is to benefit the local tribal population by making sustainable and responsible use of these resources. The vision of Vishnudev Sai government of Chhattisgarh for Bastar is not just a political statement, but a long-term development plan based on a solid strategy. With the end of Naxalism, Bastar will not only get peace and security, but this region can become the pride of the state through tourism, agriculture, small industries and cultural heritage.

If the implementation of plans continues with this speed and determination, then the day is not far when Bastar will become free from Naxalism and become a symbol of development, prosperity and lasting peace.
