Raipur (Team Newsbuddy): A large-scale anti-Naxal operation has been carried out by the security forces for the last two weeks in the vast and inaccessible hills of Karregutta in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. Under this operation, a major encounter took place late on Tuesday night, in which the security forces have killed more than 18 Naxalites. The number of Naxalites killed may increase. Weapons and explosive material have been recovered from the killed Naxalites.

This operation has been going on continuously for the last 15 days. In which many Naxalites have been killed. Considering the geographical location of the Karregutta area, the search operation is being described as challenging, but the security forces are conducting search and patrolling operations. If sources are to be believed, intelligence was received about the presence of some top Naxalite leaders and battalion number one in this area. Based on which the operation was intensified. It is expected that the number of Naxalites killed may increase further, as the action of the security forces is going on at many other hideouts as well.

However, there has been no official confirmation from the local police about this encounter yet. The Karregutta hill area has been known for Naxalite activities in the past as well. In such a situation, this action of the security forces is being considered a major success in weakening the Naxalite network in this entire area.
