Nuns arrest in Chhattisgarh
New Delhi (Team Newsbuddy): T nuns were arrested on last Friday at Durg railway station in Chhattisgarh. After gaining momentum, this matter has now taken a completely political color. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has directly demanded intervention from Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the matter.

Arrest made from Durg railway station

Two nuns from Kerala (Sister Vandana and Sister Preeti) were arrested at Durg railway station in Chhattisgarh. Both of them have been accused of forced conversion and human trafficking. After the arrest, they have been sent to jail.

Church’s reaction in the case

Both the arrested nuns belong to the Green Gardens religious community and were going to Fatima Hospital in Agra with 3 women, where they had to start work. The Syro-Malabar Church has condemned their arrest and called it an attack on minorities. The church claims that both the nuns had all the necessary documents, yet the mob claiming to be Bajrang Dal workers stopped them and accused them of conversion.

Kerala CM’s appeal to PM Modi

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has sent a letter to the Prime Minister. In the letter, he has said that Sister Vandana Francis and Sister Preeti were detained when they reached the railway station to pick up women who had come to their convent for jobs. CM Vijayan also told that the relatives of both the nuns say that they are not able to talk to them. He has demanded a transparent and fair investigation from the PM.

Congress targets BJP

Kerala Congress has launched a scathing attack on BJP and Sangh Parivar over the matter. AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal and Leader of Opposition VD Satishan said that this is an example of attacks against minorities in BJP-ruled states. KC Venugopal wrote on social media that attacks on minorities are increasing in states like Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh.
