Woman held hostage in Oman reaches Raipur: Narrates her ordeal to Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma
2 min readRaipur(TEAM NEWS BUDDY).Jogi Deepika, a resident of Bhilai, who reached the Muslim country Oman in search of employment and was taken hostage there, has been rescued due to the efforts of the Chhattisgarh government. Deepika reached Raipur airport on Friday night with the help of the Embassy. Vaishali Nagar MLA Rikesh Sen himself arrived to pick him up.
After reaching Raipur airport, Deepika was met by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma and MLA Rikesh Sen. Deepika expressed her gratitude to Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma and MLA Rikesh Sen. She told that if he had not tried so hard, she would never have been able to get out of there. Deepika told that people are waiting in the Indian Embassy for a year or so.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma also admitted that when he called the embassy, he was told that there was a waiting period of one year. They put a lot of pressure, then Jogi Deepika was sent to India. Deepika said that in Muslim countries, people are taken away with tempting promises and then taken hostage and made to work. A big initiative is needed on this, so that other women like her do not fall into this trap.
Deepika told that she was told that in the house where she has to work, there lives an old woman whom she has to serve. When she went there, she had a house as big as the Circuit House of Raipur. The woman had 9 sons in that house. All those 9 sons had 3-4 children. That means there was a total family of 40 people. She was the only woman working in that house. She was also made to plant vegetables in the garden. When she got tired, the owner forced to work.
