Raipur. With the changing times, those who were considered to be the leaders in Indian culture have become the subject of discussion today. It is very important to discuss this topic because Goddess Lakshmi resides in the house where elders reside. The elderly are our capital and this is also our culture. The young generation should understand this and respect the elders because one day they too have to become old.
These things were said by the subject experts and scholars in the two-day national seminar organized by the Hindi Department of MATS University, Raipur on the topic ‘Vriddha Vimarsh: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow’. The chief guest of this national seminar was Pt. Ravi Shankar Shukla University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sachchidanand Shukla said that when people grow older and have immense knowledge, our society leaves them alone. Pro. Describing this national seminar on old age as relevant in the present times, Shukla said that if the youth move ahead after taking guidance from their elders while sitting at home, they will progress in every field.
The country’s famous female litterateur Alka Saraogi, who was awarded the Hindi Sahitya Akademi Award and was present as the keynote speaker at the seminar, said that we leave alone those who need support in life. Today, children go to some other city after completing their education and parents become alone. In the end they too are forced to leave everything and live in an old age home. Alka Saraogi presented many examples of old age discussion in Hindi literature and said that it is the responsibility of the youth to take care of the elders and respect them.
Senior female litterateur Manisha Kulshrestha, who was present as the keynote speaker on this occasion, said that photos are posted on social media on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, but after returning from the party, they never ask them how their day was, whether they ate food. He said that it is the responsibility of all of us to come together and respect the elderly.
While presiding over the national seminar, senior litterateur, critic and ghazal writer Dr. Prem Bhardwaj Gyanbhikshu, while narrating his experiences from abroad, said that those who live abroad call their old parents only to do the household work or to take care of the children. Because people are not available to work there. He said that there should be discussion on why old age homes are being opened. Vice Chancellor of MATS University, Prof. K.P. Yadav said that blessings of elders are needed not only for home, family and society but also for the progress of the country. Our country will become truly developed only when we respect the elders. On this occasion, Chancellor of MATS University, Gajraj Pagaria appreciated the efforts of the Hindi Department. Ravi Shankar Shukla University, Dr. Chittaranjan Kar said that the society, province or country where the elders are respected, that society is prosperous and the people of that society are prosperous.
