Making Rajim Punni Mela Kumbh an insult to Sanatan tradition, Chhattisgarh culture.
2 min readRaipur. Converting Rajim Punni Mela into Kumbh by the BJP government is an insult to both the Sanatan tradition and the ancient culture of Chhattisgarh. State Congress Communication Department Chairman Sushil Anand Shukla said that according to Sanatan Dharma and Hindu Purana tradition, Kumbh is organized only in 4 places – Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain and Nashik, every 12 years. Only in Prayag, Ardh Kumbh is held every 6 years. Apart from this, naming any religious fair held anywhere else as Kumbh is a mockery of Sanatan Dharma and the mythological beliefs of Hinduism.
State Congress Communication Department President Sushil Anand Shukla said that Rajim Punni Fair has been held for more than 100 years in Rajim, the religious land of Lord Rajiv Lochan, the confluence of Pairi, Sondhur and Mahanadi. It is a symbol of the glorious culture of Chhattisgarh. In the form of Punni Mela, it has its own importance and reverence in the minds of the people of Chhattisgarh. To shine its politics, the BJP government is trying to reduce its importance. After all, why does BJP hate Chhattisgarh’s cultural tradition Teej festival so much?
State Congress Communication Department Chairman Sushil Anand Shukla said that in the last 5 years, the Congress government has given a new identity to the culture, tradition, Teej, festivals, food, dialect and language of Chhattisgarh in the country and the world. Many programs including Maghi Punni Fair, World Tribal Dance Festival, Bore Basi Day, Teeja Pola, Hareli, Karma Jayanti, Mati Pujan program were organized which are related to the traditions of Chhattisgarh. Today it seems that the BJP government will now end all these traditions. Every anti-Chhattisgarh act of BJP will be openly opposed. The state government should honor the sentiments of Chhattisgarh by organizing Maghi Punni Mela as per tradition in Rajim.
