India claims to prepared vaccine for Dengue prevention
1 min readHyderabad. Hyderabad-based Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL) has claimed to have prepared a vaccine to prevent dengue.
IIL Managing Director Dr K Anand Kumar has claimed that if everything goes well, this vaccine will be administered to people in about two years (mid 2026) after all its trials are completed.
Dr Kumar has said that the first phase of testing of this vaccine has been completed while the second and third phase of testing will start soon.
Apart from dengue, IIL is also currently engaged in the development of vaccines against Zika virus and Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD).
Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) under the Union Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
According to a report, 10 crore cases of dengue are reported every year in the world. At the same time, about 3.5 crore cases are found every year in India.
