Muslim family being stopped , forcibly coloured in Bijnor , 4 arrested

Lucknow. A video of Dhampur town of Bijnor district in UP has been going viral since Saturday.

In this video, it is seen that a young woman and a middle-aged woman in burqa are sitting behind a young man on a bike. Some youths playing Holi are stopping these people on the way and forcibly applying wet colour.

The video shows that first colour is forcibly applied on the face of the young man. After that, wet colour is also thrown on the young woman and the middle-aged woman. A young man is also applying colour on the cheeks of the middle-aged woman.

Despite the opposition of the family, this coercion continues.

The Bijnor police have registered a case in this regard and arrested four people, out of which three are minors.

On Sunday, Bijnor police gave information about this action.

On the other hand, after the video went viral on Saturday, Bijnor Superintendent of Police Neeraj Jadoun had said, “Bijnor police has taken cognizance of a video going viral on social media since this morning. In this viral video, some people are stopping a bike and harassing the people riding on it. They are forcibly throwing color on them. Bijnor police is identifying these people. CO Dhampur has been instructed to talk to the victim’s family, take a written complaint and register a case.”

Case registered against five

Dhampur Deputy Superintendent of Police Sarvam Singh told BBC, “In this case, the victim family riding the bike has been identified. This family belongs to Jamalpur village of Dhampur police station area. A case has been registered.”

Last year too, a video of some Muslim women being hit with color-filled balloons in Bhagat Singh Chowk area in Dhampur went viral.

This video was shared on Twitter by many politicians. Dhampur is once again in the news.
