Ambikapur. After a long wait, Congress has finally declared youth leader, National Secretary of Youth Congress Shashi Singh as its candidate from Surguja Lok Sabha constituency. Shashi Singh is a district panchayat member in Surajpur district. She has won the district panchayat election by a huge margin. The young leader who has emerged rapidly in Surajpur district belongs to Gond tribal society. Due to this, she also has a good social hold. She has inherited politics.

Her father late Tuleshwar Singh was a minister in the Ajit Jogi government in Chhattisgarh. Father Tuleshwar Singh had a sharp image, his impression has been on Shashi Singh. Shashi speaks her mind openly. Shashi Singh has been a full-time traveler in the first phase of Congress national leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. Shashi was also among those 100 youths involved in the journey. She had also undertaken a 3500 km journey with Rahul Gandhi.

Being close to Rahul Gandhi, her name had come up as a Lok Sabha candidate a year ago. When her name came up for discussion in Surguja, former Deputy Chief Minister TS Singhdeo also supported her. Shashi Singh is considered close to TS Singhdeo.
