Korba: Korba, famous as the energy capital, is ready to write a new chapter in the field of energy once again. A large reserve of lithium has been found underground in the Ghuchapur area of Katghora. The Geological Survey of India itself has shared important information about the discovery of a large reserve of lithium, the energy of the future. After finding a large mine of lithium, the auction process has also started. Many big companies including Ola, Vedanta, Jindal, Shri Cement, Adani Group, UltraTech Cement have bid for the lithium block of Katghora. A company from Argentina will also participate in the bidding process. With the discovery of lithium reserves, Korba will not only be seen on the world map but hundreds of doors of employment will also open.
Katghora will have the country’s first lithium mine: The auction process was started on Wednesday by the Union Ministry of Mines. The name of the successful bidder has not been revealed yet. A composite license is being given for the Katghora Lithium REE block of lithium. This will include the right to both testing and mining. Along with Katghora, the auction process of the lithium block located in Reasi, Kashmir has also started.
Bidders did not come forward in the initial phase: At present, no suitable bidders have come forward for this in the initial phase, due to which it is also known that its online auction process has been stopped for now. This is the reason why speculations are being made that mining will start first in Katghora Lithium block. Therefore, there is full hope that Katghora can become the country’s first lithium mine.
Employment opportunities will increase: When lithium mine starts, the doors of prosperity will open not only in Korba but also in Chhattisgarh and the country. Katghora is counted among the plain areas equipped with basic facilities. Due to better geographical location, the trend of investors is also high here. After the start of lithium mining, the companies associated with it will start working. Technical experts and people will also be required for the development of resources. This will increase employment opportunities and also increase revenue. This will also provide support for the amount fixed for development in the state, royalty and DMF which will be in thousands of crores.
The Union Ministry of Mines has started the auction process: The Union Ministry of Mines has started the auction process of 20 mines across the country falling in the category of REE (Rare Earth Element). In the auction, along with the only Katghora lithium block of Chhattisgarh, 3 blocks of Bihar, 1 in Gujarat, 1 in Jharkhand, 4 in Odisha, 7 in Tamil Nadu, 2 in Uttar Pradesh and 1 in Jammu and Kashmir are being auctioned online. Union Mines Minister Prahlad Joshi has also given information about this by tweeting. The Union Minister has said that 100 rare category mines have been identified in the country. Auction of 20 of these blocks is being started. The price of which is 45000 crores.
