Sharjah passenger smuggles 5Kg gold in shoes & underwear, caught at airport
1 min readIndore(Team Newsbuddy) : The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence seized approximately 4.9 kg of foreign gold, which is said to be valued at approximately Rs 3 crore. The accused, who is originally from Gujarat, tried to smuggle the gold by hiding it inside the soles of his shoes and undergarments.
He arrived at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport in Indore from Sharjah on Wednesday and was caught by the officers of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, who received a tip-off.
The perpetrator was booked under the Customs Act of 1962. The officers searched him thoroughly and successfully found and seized about 4.9 kilos of pure gold, which is worth Rs 3 crore.
