Biometric attendance system: Mantralay officers in panic.
2 min readRaipur(Team Newsbuddy): Preparations have started to install biometric system for attendance of officers and employees in many important departments connected to the public including the ministry, department head buildings in Chhattisgarh. The Vishnudev Sai government of Chhattisgarh is trying that the change should start from the top. Therefore, the biometric system will be installed first in the ministry and Indravati Bhawan. It has been learned that Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain reviewed it by holding a meeting and has instructed the officers. That is, officers and employees will now have to come to the office on time.
It is said that after the review of the Chief Secretary, the Good Governance Department has started its preparation. It is said that CM Vishnudev Sai came to know that despite the five-day week, most of the officers and employees are not coming on time. Especially, the big officers posted in the ministry and Indravati Bhawan come to the office on their own and leave as per their wish. From the common man to the government employees coming from far off places for government work, officers keep visiting the ministry and Indravati Bhawan. People from industry and business field wait to meet officers but if there are officers then there are no employees and if there are employees then there are no officers.
Earlier many times the introduction of biometrics was started at the lower level but it was not successful. There is always opposition to it. After the merger of Shiksha Karmis, the condition of biometrics was kept. Then the biometric system was installed in schools. But the network is not working, teachers made so many photos viral on social media of people climbing trees and balconies and giving thumb impression that what they wanted happened. The biometric system ended on its own.
Why is there opposition to biometrics?
No government employee wants to reach office on time. When biometrics was installed in the Government of India, even there the employees and officers did not mark their attendance. After this, the Center took strict action. After the biometrics is installed in the offices of Nava Raipur including the Ministry and Indravati Bhawan, the officers and employees will have to come on time. That is, from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. Now as soon as it is 5:30 pm, people start packing their bags, sacks and tiffins in the offices of Nava Raipur including the Ministry.
Government is adamant
Since Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain has held a meeting for biometric attendance, its seriousness can be understood. Despite the busy schedule of the Lok Sabha elections, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai is constantly taking updates on it. Therefore, this time it seems that the government will install the biometric system despite the protests.
