Fire broke out in chemical factory after explosion, 7 killed, 48 injured
2 min readMumbai (Team Newsbuddy): A fire broke out due to boiler explosion in a factory located in MIDC area of Dombivali in Maharashtra. Seven people have died in this accident, while 48 people have been injured. Relief and rescue operations are going on continuously at the spot.
It has been told that the explosion occurred due to boiler explosion in Amudan Chemical Factory at 1.40 pm. Maharashtra Industry Minister Uday Samant has said that so far four bodies have been recovered from the spot. Samant said that the injured have been admitted to the nearest hospital. On the other hand, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced that the cost of treatment of the injured will be borne by the state government.
The sound of the explosion was heard far away
An eyewitness said that the sound of the explosion was heard up to a kilometer away. Due to the explosion, the glass windows of the surrounding buildings got cracked and many houses were also damaged. The injured have been admitted to the local hospital. Disaster Management Department official Yasin Tadvi says that the sound of the explosion was heard at around 1.40 pm. He further said that after the explosion, fire spread to three nearby factories. Smoke and fire could be seen from a long distance.
Eight people suspended – Devendra Fadnavis
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed grief over this incident. He has tweeted on Twitter that eight people have been suspended in this case. Fadnavis wrote, ‘Teams of NDRF, TDRF and Fire Brigade have been called to the spot. Relief and rescue work is going on continuously.’
