Integration with police to make child helpline effective

Secretary held a joint meeting of police, railway, BSNL officials

Raipur (Team Newsbuddy): Child helpline CHL-1098 for children and women helpline WHL-181 for women are operated as 24-hour emergency service with the aim of providing quick assistance to children and women. To make the said helpline more effective, integration is being done with ERSS-112 operated by the police department.

To make the helpline effective, Secretary of Women and Child Development, Shammi Abidi held a joint meeting of C-DAC Thiruvananthapuram, Police Department’s ERSS-112 team, BSNL, Railways and Women and Child Development Department officials at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan . He directed the officials to make the helpline effective for quick help to children and women. Director Women and Child Development Tulika Prajapati was also present in the meeting.

Secretary Shammi Abidi did a detailed review of the compliance of the instructions given in the last meeting. In the meeting, it was informed that at present hardware has been installed for operating the child helpline in all 33 districts. In 32 districts, the child helpline has been integrated with the WCD control room and its operation has started. Instructions were given to the officials of C-DAC and BSNL to complete the integration process. Women helpline units are being established and integrated and operated in the One Stop Centres (Sakhi Centres) of 27 districts of the state. Secretary, Women and Child Development directed the officials from Railway Raipur and Bilaspur and the departmental officials that in the best interest of children, the child helpline should be operated at a suitable place at Raipur and Bilaspur railway stations. In this regard, he directed the concerned officials to ensure immediate action and the officials to inspect the site themselves and submit a report.
