Tel-Aviv .(Team Newsbuddy) : Israeli airstrikes have killed 35 displaced Palestinians living in a UN school in central Gaza.

Local media have reported that Israel fired two missiles on the top floor of the classroom.

The Israeli military says that “20 to 30 fighters were suspected to be in the Hamas compound at the school and they have died in this attack.”

The media office of the Hamas government in Gaza has denied Israel’s claims and described the attack as a ‘horrific massacre’.

The head of the UN agency that runs schools for displaced people in Palestine called it a ‘heartbreaking’ incident.

He said the claim of the presence of ‘fighters’ in the refugee camp was surprising and could not be confirmed.

The Israeli army launched a new military operation in central Gaza last week.

According to the Hamas-run Health Ministry, more than 36,400 Palestinians have died in Israeli attacks since October 7.
