Dr. Raman Singh chairs review meeting of state’s healthcare system
2 min readRaipur(Team Newsbuddy): Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh chaired a review meeting on the healthcare system and medical college facilities at the Legislative Assembly Secretariate . Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma and Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal also attened the meeting. Dr. Singh expressed concern over the shortage of specialist doctors in the state’s medical colleges and gave necessary instructions regarding increasing their honorarium and regularising their services. Following Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh’s suggestion, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal has instructed Health Department officials to form a committee for this purpose.
A special secretary of the Health Department will be the nodal officer in this committee. The committee will also include senior officials from the Finance and Health Departments, as well as the Dean and a senior professor from a medical college. Committee will study the provisions and rules regarding honorarium and regularisation of specialist doctors in the neighbouring state of Madhya Pradesh within a month and submit its report accordingly.
In the meeting, Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh held extensive discussions on the establishment and facilities available in all medical colleges in the state, including those in Rajnandgaon and Kawardha. He stated that to provide better healthcare facilities to the state’s people, the department should set both short-term and long-term goals. This wil ensure that the work can be completed on time,and as many people as possible receive timely healthcare services. He directed the Health Minister to quickly fill the vacant posts of assistant professors through the Public Service Commission.
At the meeting, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal reviewed the status of under-construction medical colleges in the state. He instructed the officials to complete the necessary work for their early establishment. He also instructed senior officials to expand facilities at the both state’s medical colleges and district hospitals and to fill vacant positions. This will help ensure that the people of the state can access the best possible healthcare services.
Legislative Assembly Secretary Dinesh Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department Manoj Pingua, Finance Department Secretary Mukesh Kumar Bansal, Special Secretary of Health Department Chandan Kumar, MD of CGMSC Padmini Bhoi Sahu, Director of Medical Education Dr. U.S. Paikra, and other senior officials of the Health and Finance department attended the meeting.
