Angelina Jolie wins first Tony Award

The actress arrived with her 15-year-old daughter at the Tony Awards ceremony on Sunday. Mother and daughter were present during the award distribution. The actress’ daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt also shared notes on the hit Broadway version. At the ceremony, producer Matthew Rego specially thanked Jolie while accepting the Tony Award. During this, he also named ‘The Outsiders’ writer S.E. Hinton, who was present in the audience.
The reason behind Jolie’s association with ‘The Outsiders’ was her daughter and her love for theater. In an interview, Angelina said, ‘My daughter Viv loves theater very much. She likes all kinds of theater, but she knows what kind of thing makes her feel closer. She went to see ‘The Outsiders’ in La Jolla about five times and was telling me about it. I had read the book, I had seen the film years ago. Then she asked me to see it with her.’ The actress said that she got involved in its production after seeing the impact of the musical on her daughter.
