Priyanka to contest Lok Sabha by-election from Wayanad, Rahul will resign

New Delhi (Team Newsbuddy): Rahul Gandhi will remain an MP from Rae Bareli. He will resign from Wayanad seat. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has announced this. At the same time, after Rahul’s resignation, Priyanka Gandhi will contest from Wayanad.

Announcing this, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said, “Rahul Gandhi has won from 2 Lok Sabha seats, but according to the law, he will have to vacate one seat. Rahul Gandhi will keep the Rae Bareli seat with himself and vacate the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat.”

It is worth noting that Rahul Gandhi contested the Lok Sabha elections from both Rae Bareli and Wayanad seats and he won both. Since then, speculations started being made as to which seat Rahul will leave. Now the Congress President has made it clear that Rahul will remain an MP from Rae Bareli only. Also, Mallikarjun Kharge has announced that Priyanka Gandhi will contest from Wayanad. This will be her entry into electoral politics. Earlier, she had held a position in the party organisation, but had not contested elections till now.
