New Delhi (Team Newsbuddy): Three new criminal laws will come into force in the country from July 1, 2024. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said in Kolkata that the new criminal laws were brought in after consultation with all parties.

Congress leader Manish Tewari said that the Union Law Minister is not telling the whole truth.

Congress leader Manish Tewari wrote on the social media platform X, “Arjun Ram Meghwal is not telling the whole truth. The three new criminal laws were passed on their own after suspending 146 MPs of opposition parties.”

Tewari said, “This means that these three laws show the side of only one faction of Parliament who sit on the Treasury Bench of Parliament. They do not reflect the collective knowledge of the entire Parliament.”

He said, “Even the views expressed in opposition by the members of the Standing Committee on Home Affairs were not considered. The implementation of these three laws from July 1, 2024 will be equivalent to throwing water on the Indian legal system.”

Manish Tiwari says that these laws should be stopped from being implemented until the entire Parliament discusses it. Some provisions of these laws attack the civil liberties given by the Republic of India.

In fact, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal had put forth his point in a seminar organized on the Administration of Criminal Justice System held in Kolkata.

He had said that the central government had sought suggestions from all the states, the Chief Justice of India, the Chief Justices of 16 High Courts, five law academies and 22 law universities before making and passing the criminal laws in Parliament.

Meghwal also said that suggestions were also sought from all MPs and MLAs across the country. These laws were prepared after 4 years of intense deliberations.
